The European Chronicles - 2021 Ch. 3

 Loop Day!

Partly cloudy is also partly sunny; time for a loop.

A mix of small roads, B500 sections, the Schwarzwald Panoramastrasse, a few lakes and some open vistas.  A good day...

Back at the Kurgarten, it was Beer o'clock...

With a very unusual bicycle...one faces forward, one backward, both pedal...dry bags on each side.

Route looks something like this, with a frolic and detour now and again...

The next day, however...

Run Away!  Run Away!

Although the plan (in my head) was to ride southeast into Bavaria, that seemed ill advised.  Time for a strategic retreat north and hopefully this will pass.

A nice steady rain as I get ready to go; time to test out the waterproof-ness of the Rev'It Sand 3 kit.

Have you noticed there are trees in the Black Forest?

Two very nice couples from Belgium on holiday for a week, followed them for awhile...seriously quick.  ðŸ˜Ž. They too were concerned about the French border and the possibility of quarantine being required upon return; I'm crossing that direction off my list for this year.

Nope, plus it started to rain again...

Made it through unscathed.

Risk of Falling...gotta love the knee down!

A windmill farm IN the Black Forest

I'm headed to Dobel, and the Hotel Rossle, which looked pretty funky on Booking.com.  Dry when I got there, just a little dot of dry...it rained about 65% of the time, mostly light, but sometimes heavy.  The Sand 3 worked perfectly, totally dry.

The hotel is a real trip.  An eclectic sense of humor throughout.

The best part

Dinner nearby, mit Rover...

All flower boxes, all the time.

More hotel funk

And there's a Zen garden in the back.

Can you spot the cactus?

Cheers!
