Garage Collage

A Pre-digital Journey

"Normal" seems a long way off right now, and looking back easier than looking forward.  In our garage are a few print photo (remember those?) collages decorating the walls.  Pulled some into the digital realm, albeit kicking and screaming... 😎

This is the Cap Chat Aeolian, on Canada's Gaspe Peninsula, the largest vertical axis wind turbine in the world.  310 feet (94 m) tall, 210 feet (64 m) wide and producing 4 megawatts.  It went into service in 1987 and ceased operation in 1993 because of damage to its large, expensive, rotational bearing.  This photo is circa 1995; that's my BMW K75S, Uma, in the left foreground.  Uma was my intro into BMW, ABS, hard luggage, heated grips and the motorcycle touring accoutrement that make travel pleasant.  Unfortunately, she also came with clunky shifting, limited power (but smooooooth) and constantly warping front rotors.

Pretty, though, even through today's lens.

Near Rangeley, Maine.  If I remember correctly, Mooselookmeguntic Lake, a memorable name if there ever was one.

In the wilds of NJ

My motorcycle travel really began in 1991, with a Honda VFR 750F.

On the Blue Ridge Parkway

Skill development.  My first track day, the CLASS school by Reg Pridmore at Watkins Glen, NY.

Some advice from the 1976 US Superbike champion

And then came Sophia!

A real carnival ride and love affair, with tons of Fast by Ferracci work.  Even brought her with me when moving west.

On the Cape May - Lewis ferry, a great way to bypass the highway heading south.

And down in West Virginia, where it rained all day, every day for 7 days straight.  Both Ducs would die, simultaneously, about every 90 minutes.  That was fun...

The K75S was replaced with a SuperHawk, basically a reliable Ducati.  ðŸ˜€

Unfortunately, only 117 miles until the Red Light of Death, and about 15 more until you were walking.  That would never do here in the Southwest; sold her to my friend Bill, who still has her.

Back to the present...

A Socially Distant Picnic Table

We're still able to ride right now, but who knows how long that will last.  Scary, challenging times.
