Ferry Day!!!!
Wednesday is Ferry Day! Krisanne plotted a route around Lago di Como via three different ferries, and stopping at almost every port o' call. Three different kinds of ferries too: car/passenger, high speed and "civilized," i.e., with an on board bar.
First stop: Menaggio
This was the combined car/passenger ferry, and the one I'll take to start my trip back to Heidelberg when it's (sadly) time. Then a short jaunt on the same ferry to Bellagio for cappuccino.
We then board the high speed ferry, a catamaran. Here she comes
Cooks right along...
We zig-zag our way north, next stop: "Gravedona, Gravedona, Gravedona!"
Then Domaso, with the Fiat 500 waiting...😀
We disembark in Colico
A stroll north on Via Nazionale leads to La Briciola Osteria Moderna for what turns out to be one of the best meals here, and only 15 euro including a glass of fabulous local Nebbiolo.

Colico has a special place on this trip because of an incredible kindness. When we landed, there was a nice gentleman in a powered wheelchair next to the ticket office. We were buying return tickets, and Krisanne started to chat with him, as much as two people who speak different languages can "chat," and then the ticket seller got involved as translator. After some fun discussion (he had spent time in San Francisco) we took a "selfie" at his request. We strolled around, had lunch, took all the pictures you've seen, then eventually made our way back to the dock to find him waiting for us. He had the selfie printed, signed it, and gave us two copies.

What a wonderful encounter.
It was time to board the ferry back to Varenna, aka, The Party Boat with the onboard bar!
Ahhhhh...
The zig-zag across the lake starts again, but slowly this time...you wouldn't want to spill your cocktail. 😂
