Scotland July 2014
We did a 2 week trip to Scotland this past July, 10 of those days on a rented BMW F800GT. Flew into Edinburgh, stayed a week in Glenelg, opposite the Isle of Skye and did loops thru the Highlands. We then rode to Moffat in southern Scotland, did more loops and then finished on foot in Edinburgh after we turned the bike in.
A fantastic trip, such a beautiful country…with History all around you. The F800GT was the perfect bike: light, nimble, decent power, comfortable…a very underrated motorcycle.

"Bike under rainbow"…the view from our front porch. There were several rainbows during the week, showers would come and go, but generally we had great weather.
Heading to Applecross on what would be many "single track" roads on this trip. See that wide area? That's a "passing place." Whoever gets there first, pulls over so the oncoming vehicle can get by on these two way roads. Works surprisingly well.
Mr. Happy Puppet takes a break at the Arch Inn in Ullapool. Somewhere near there our satnav decided to jump off for the second time, never to be seen again.

The Buccleugh Arms Hotel in Moffat, run by Dave Smith and his family, riders all. Great place, welcome and local knowledge. Bike storage lockers in the back!

Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh is a wonderful city to explore on foot. We had turned the bike in, and rented a place right in the center of town. History surrounds you.
